Project Overview
Acorn Passive Fire Protection was appointed to deliver essential fire safety remedial works at Fern Brook Lodge, a live Care South residential care home. Because this is an operational environment with vulnerable residents, every stage of the work required meticulous planning, safe sequencing, and strict dust/noise control to avoid disruption to day-to-day care.

Scope of Works
-
Removal of legacy foam and non-compliant fire stop/smoke seal installations
-
Correction of unsafe penetrations throughout active care areas
-
Full passive fire system remedials as identified
-
Live-environment working with resident-first safeguarding
-

How We Delivered
Our team coordinated closely with Care South’s management to operate in controlled zones, carry out daily clean-downs, and maintain strict access protocols. Each penetration was surveyed, rectified, and reinstated to current British Standards using tested and certified systems.

Outcome (Ongoing)
This project remains ongoing as we work systematically through the building, ensuring every penetration meets the correct fire and smoke resistance rating.
